The Student Union Assembly voted to give 3LJ funding to jumpstart the club and host its first event. This new funding will allow the organization to market and outreach to more students and bolster membership as we transition from winter to spring quarter. Most importantly, 3LJ will utilize the funds in partnership with Jewish student organizations to host an event dedicated to building community and promoting Jewish culture, in light of the recent failure of the Student Union Assembly to pass a resolution condemning antisemitism, and a recent incident of antisemitic hate graffiti.
It is the mission of 3LJ to make our democracy more accessible. When any individual or student group feels isolated, and insecure, resulting from such acts of hate, 3LJ has an obligation to become involved. It is the duty of student organizations on campus to answer the pleas of students who feel as if their institution of higher education is not a safe place. More details regarding this event will come as Spring quarter approaches closer. Fiat justitia ruat caelum. Colm Fitzgerald President, 3LJ
